Working with difficult people:
- Folks can have various reasons for their behavior and its best to ensure a good working relation with teammates.
- Its best to analyze the situation, engaging with the person to listen in on their perspective. Listening in really helps solve issues as the other party gets to see that you are interested in hearing them.
- As you discuss the problem, its affects and possible solutions while keeping the pivot around what is best for the firm it is easy to reach compromises where you can learn from the other person and vice versa.
In my personal experience I have seen difficulties with people arising due to lack of trust, as we endeavor to build trust and strengthen relationships difficulties automatically get resolved. Trust comes in form of you understanding their perspective, appreciating their experience as professionals and as humans and providing them help when needed.
